The Dickon Trust

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is my charity eligible to apply for a grant?
Only charities registered in England, Scotland and Wales, with a registered charity number, will be eligible for a grant from the Trust. In addition, the funds requested must be for application in the North East of England (from the Tees in the south to Cumbria in the west) and Scotland.
2. When will I know if my application has been successful?
The Trustees meet twice a year in summer and winter to consider appeals. Any applications received by the end of October will be considered at the winter meeting and any applications made after that time, up to the end of May, will be considered at the summer meeting.
3. How much will the Trust donate?
The Trustees usually make a number of grants of £1,000 at each half yearly meeting.
4. My charity has received a grant from the Dickon Trust before, should I still apply?
Yes – the Trustees sometimes make grants to charities more than once so you should not be put off from applying even if you have received funds in the past.
5. What charitable causes do the Trustees consider?
The Trustees are keen to support a wide range of charitable purposes. Previous beneficiaries have included St Oswald’s Hospice, Families in Care, the Farm for Crisis Network and an extensive number of other good causes. The Trustees are particularly interested in supporting young people.
